MADURAI: Southern Railway has chalked out a strategy to intensify vigilance awareness by educating rail users on the dangers of corruption.
While fixing responsibility on a senior official to conduct various programmes to mark the five-day vigilance awareness week that commenced on Monday, the Senior Deputy General Manager and Chief Vigilance Officer, Southern Railway, has sought an action taken report on the events. Steps would be taken to sensitise the people critically about probity in public life in order to achieve progress on all fronts.
In a communication sent to all Heads of Departments, the CVO has said that the Central Vigilance Commission had opined that a sustained campaign against corruption should involve all members of the civil society. The focus would also be on improving the existing procedures, particularly the complaint handling policy and avenues for redressal of grievances. Besides organising literary competitions, skits would be held on the theme of corruption, railway sources said.
In Madurai Division, the Divisional Railway Manager, Hemant Kumar, administered a pledge to staff members on Monday. Additional Divisional Railway Manager, D.K. Nayak, and the Senior Divisional Commercial Manager, L. Veeranarayanan, were present.
