THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: Tamil Nadu, Andhra and Karnataka recorded wins in the South Zone Polly Umrigar Trophy under-15 cricket tournament here on Monday. Tamil Nadu crushed Hyderabad by an innings and 133 runs to secure six points in the tie. After being dismissed for 56 in its first innings, Hyderabad fared better in the second innings and scored 238 runs largely due to a defiant 94 by Naveen Kumar. For Tamil Nadu K. Bharath Shankar (four for 67) and Anishek Srinivasan (three for 58) shared the spoils. Andhra managed to squeeze out a four-wicket win over host Kerala. D. Navin Reddy (43) and Siva Charan Singh (42) made telling contributions as the visitors successfully chased 147 runs for victory. Andhra took five points for the win Karnataka defeated Goa by 111 runs. Captain and off-spinner Aman Raj turned out to be he hero as he spun a web around the Goan batsmen claiming seven for 18. Goa, chasing 240 for a win, was dismissed for 128 in 83.2 overs. Earlier in the morning, Karnataka declared its second innings at 99 for three to set a challenging target for Goa. Karnataka got five points. The scores: Tamil Nadu 427 for eight in 103 overs bt Hyderabad 56 & 238 in 91.2 overs (Naveen Kumar 94, Yathin Reddy 36, K. Bharath Sankar four for 67, Anishek Srinivasan three for 58). Kerala 154 & 121 lost to Andhra 129 & 147 for six in 53.2 overs (D. Naveen Reddy 43, Siva Charan Singh 42, Abhishek Mohan four for 49). Karnataka 231 & 99 for three decl in 303. overs (R. Samrath 50) bt Goa 91 & 128 in 83.2 overs (Amog Desai 56, Aman Raj seven for 18). — Principal Correspondent
