Notice issued to Fathima Hospital, National Hospital MIMS, IQRAA, Baby Memorial to report to PCB Thiruvananthapuram: The Chairman and the committee constituted by the Pollution Control Board (PCB) to conduct surprise inspections inspected major hospitals in Kozhikode on November 3. They inspected the Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences (MIMS), IQRAA Hospital, Baby Memorial Hospital, Fathima Hospital, and National Hospital and found that Fathima Hospital and National Hospital had violated statutory provisions regarding collection and storage of bio-medical wastes as well as treatment and discharge of sewage. Sewage was being discharged into public drains without adequate treatment and without meeting the specified standards. The committee recommended the issue of Closure Intention Notice to these hospitals. Based on this, notices were issued to Fathima Hospital and to National Hospital. Malabar Institute of Medical Sciences, IQRAA Hospital, and Baby Memorial Hospital were directed to give more attention to segregation and mutilation of bio-medical wastes and improvement of general cleanliness and to report to the Board within 15 days.
