Moradabad Commissioner suspended Action against nine more senior officials LUCKNOW: Taking a strong view of laxity in implementation of development works, Uttar Pradesh Chief Minister Mayawati on Tuesday suspended the Divisional Commissioner of Moradabad, Shyam Manohar Srivastava, and transferred the Meerut Division Commissioner, Brij Mohan Meena. She further ordered termination of services of the Project Director of Bijnore Rural Development Authority, Suresh Chandra. Eight other senior officials were suspended on similar charges. The Chief Minister’s action coincided with completion of six months in office of the Bahujan Samaj Party-led Government on Tuesday. Ms. Mayawati’s action followed her surprise inspection of the progress of development projects in Moradabad, Meerut and Bulandshahr districts earlier in the day. The inspection started soon after she landed in Bulandshahr at around 10 a.m. During the course of her inspection, the Chief Minister warned the divisional and district officials that any laxity in the progress of development projects would be strongly dealt with. She made it clear that the officials must do justice to their posts. Among the eight other officials suspended were the Deputy Director of Panchayati Raj, Meerut; the Chief Medical Officer of Bulandshahr; the Chief Medical Superintendent and Heart Specialist of Bulandshahr District Hospital; the Deputy Superintendent of Police of Sikandrabad; the Executive Engineer of Rural Engineering Services in Bulandshahr; and the District Panchayat Raj Officer of Bulandshahr. Taking a round of Vikas Bhavan in Moradabad, the Chief Minister took strong exception to the filth and poor sanitary conditions around the building. In Bhojpur village, she pulled up officials for poor construction work and the filth. When the Chief Minister reached the office of the Project Director of the Rural Development Authority in Bijnore, she was appalled to see the pathetic state of the office building which was surrounded by filth and muck.
