The new link will cost Rs. 793 crore No check-in facilities at Sector 21 NEW DELHI: The Delhi Cabinet on Tuesday gave its nod for a Metro railway link between Dwarka Sector-21 and Indira Gandhi International Airport. The 3.5-km line will be completely underground and not have any additional station. Following the Cabinet meeting, Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit informed that the Indraprastha-Connaught Place-Dwarka corridor of the Metro railway was already operational up to Sector-9 Dwarka and extension from Sector-9 to Sector-21 was under progress. The new link from Dwarka to IGI Airport would cost Rs. 793 crore and reduce the journey time. The Cabinet clarified that check-in facilities and baggage handling system would not be in position at Sector-21 Dwarka since the travel time between here and IGI Airport would be hardly four minutes. The Cabinet has approved a report on methodology for operations of privately owned stage carriage buses in Delhi to be prepared by the Delhi Integrated Multi-Modal Transit System (DIMTS) Limited. The DIMTS has been asked to initiate action in this regard which would help in phasing out the existing Blueline buses. The objective of the methodology is to ensure safety in all its aspects, availability of service on all scheduled routes, cost effectiveness, punctuality and passenger comfort to attract existing private transport users to use public transport. The Chief Minister said her Government has decided to release Rs.214 crore to the MCD for construction of 17 new road-over bridges and road-under bridges on 50 per cent cost sharing with the Railways. The ROBs/RUBs would be constructed at Roshanara Garden near Shakti Nagar, G.T. Road Industrial Area towards Sawan Park, near Badli at the back of Sanjay Gandhi Transport Nagar, Auchandi Road connecting G.T. Road and Badli Industrial Area, Nithari Road crossing on Narela Lampur Road, Lodhi Colony, Kirti Nagar near Prem Nagar, between Sarai Kale Khan and Nizamuddin Colony, Najafgarh-Bijwasan Road, Rohtak Road near Jakhira, Rampura Road towards Rohtak Road, Railway side Shakur Basti, between Mangolpuri and Rohtak Road, Sultanpuri railway crossing, Mundka railway crossing, near Vivek Vihar railway station and level crossing at Kirari.
