DSS protest on Friday

KOLAR: Kolar and Chickaballapur district units of Dalit Sangharsha Samiti (DSS) will stage a dharna in front of the Deputy Commissioner’s office here on Friday demanding the re-trial of Kambalapalli and Nagalapalli Dalit carnage cases. The verdict in both cases have hurt the sentiments of the Dalit community, DSS State convener N. Venkatesh said here on Tuesday. Social Welfare Department and police have failed in protecting the witnesses in the cases resulting in acquittal of accused, he alleged. DSS district convener K.C. Rajakanth urged the Government to appoint a special prosecutor to provide justice to the Dalits. — Staff Correspondent
