Environmental education seminar

MYSORE: Teachers, teacher educators, researchers, administrators and policymakers from the four southern States and the two Union Territories (Puducherry and Lakshadweep) will arrive in Mysore in January 2008 to discuss environmental education. For, the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) is organising a three-day southern regional seminar on “The recent trends in environmental education” at the Regional Institute of Education (RIE) from January 23. According to RIE, the seminar offers a platform to assess the status of environmental education through research findings; to share experiences, contribution, achievements and problems of environmental education and to draw recommendations towards the future course of environmental education.

N.N. Prahallada, reader, RIE, said teachers, teacher educators, researchers and policymakers can present articles on the following themes: perspectives of environmental education - history, need and nature, philosophical, sociological, psychological bases of environmental education; value orientation of environmental education, curriculum of environmental education, methods of environmental education, informal, non-formal and distance learning of environmental science; evaluation of environmental science, role of students, parents, society and administration in strengthening environmental education and educational technology and community resource for environmental education.
