Instill saving habit in children: Collector

World Thrift Day: C. Vijayaraj Kumar, Thanjavur District Collector giving away prizes to students in Thanjavur on Tuesday.—

Thanjavur: Collector C. Vijayaraj Kumar has appealed to teachers and parents to teach students about the importance of savings.

Speaking at the World Thrift Day organised by the Small Savings Department here on Tuesday, the Collector said that savings did not mean that one should spend. Essential expenditure should be made.

But unnecessary expenditure should be cut and the amount saved.

The Collector distributed prizes to students who won in competitions held in connection with the World Thrift Day. He also presented awards to postal staff and agents who did well in collection of small savings.

Zakaria Michael, PA to Collector, Small Savings, G. Gurunathan, Postal Superintendent, and V. Kumar, Chief Educational officer, participated in the function.
