‘Sharadiya Samaroh’ held

Staff Reporter

BERHAMPUR: City-based classical dance and music institute Nupur warmed up the cool autumn night by its annual ‘Sharadiya Samaroh’ organised at Ganjam Kala Parishad on Sunday night.

For the organisers this classical dance and music festival was an invocation of deities related to creativity. “The season of Sarat or autumn is always related to festivities related to worship of various deities especially mother goddesses in India”, said Satyanarayan Moharana, the director of the institute.

The show started with Hindustani and Odissi vocal recitals. The students of the institute sang traditional compositions related to different deities in groups. Secretary of the institute Subhasmita Mishra enthralled the audience with her Odissi recital of traditional ‘Arajilu Ninda Mali Ku’. It was followed by the dance session.
