It is being initiated by Orissa Samskruti Academy Readers can access publications on visual and performing arts, literature, heritage and cinema BHUBANESWAR: City-based Orissa Samskruti Academy, a Cultural Trust founded earlier this year for promotion of Orissa culture, has launched library service for artists, researchers and connoisseurs of Orissa’s art and culture. Academy chairman and scholar Kedar Mishra informed that the objective of the institution was documentation of different cultural aspects of Orissa and spread of appreciation and awareness among the public though various programmes. Rare publicationsThe lending library service of books, journals and CDs on arts and culture of the State is an initiative in that direction, he explained. “Against payment of just Re. 1 per day towards library service charges, we offer our readers an access to a wide variety of rare publications on visual and performing arts, literature, heritage and cinema. Such exclusive publications have gone out of the reach of the common people because of its high price and non-availability in the market. It prompted us to build up an exclusive library of books, journals and CDs on culture,” explained Mr. Mishra. The library that functions on the Orissa Modern Art Gallery premises at 132, Forest Park, remains open daily for two hours from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. except on Mondays.
