MLA’s house burgled

Staff Reporter

CHENNAI: Silver articles and gold jewellery were stolen from Gummidipoondi MLA K. S. Vijayakumar’s house on Monday night.

According to Mr. Vijayakumar, who belongs to the All India Anna Dravida Munnetra Kazhagam (AIADMK), he discovered the theft on Tuesday morning when he returned home from his brother’s residence located nearby.

Police said the thief had gained entry through the back-door.

Mr. Vijayakumar said there were signs that the thief had tried to break in through the front door.

When the effort failed, the thief might have scaled the walls, reached the first floor balcony and entered the house.

The MLA said he had left the key inside the refrigerator and that the thief had probably chanced upon it.

The thief had used the key to open the bureau, removed the valuables, locked it and put the key back in the refrigerator.

The Tiruvallur police said that a case had been registered.
