CHENNAI: Mayor M. Subramanian inaugurated a Primary Healthcare Centre (PHC) constructed by the Chennai Corporation at the Guindy workers’ quarters on Monday.
There had been a long-standing demand for a government healthcare facility in the area that houses several workers and poor families, he said.
The new PHC would remain open between 8 a.m. and 3 p.m.
One doctor would be on duty.
The facility would soon be expanded, he said.
Corporation Commissioner Rajesh Lakhoni, Deputy Mayor R. Sathyabama and other officials and elected representatives participated in the event, according to a release.
