HYDERABAD: Technical Education Minister R. Chenga Reddy on Tuesday informed the Legislative Council that seventh class dropouts, instead of tenth class, would be allowed to pursue ITI courses.
Replying to a question by Gidugu Rudra Raju (Cong), he said the Centre was funding modernisation of government ITIs since 2005-06 to convert them into centres of excellence. While five ITIs were taken up under a Centrally-sponsored scheme at a cost of Rs.1.6 crore for each institute during 2005, another 20 were being developed into centres of excellence under the World Bank-funded Vocational Training Improvement Project.
Housing Minister Botsa Satyanarayana told Chukka Ramaiah (PDF) that under Indiramma, 16,77,976 houses were sanctioned in rural areas and 1,85,758 in urban places. Of them, 919,530 houses were completed in rural areas and 36,182 in urban areas.
