BUILDING RELATIONSHIPS: The Political and Economic Officer, U.S. Consulate, Chennai, Rohit S Nepal, addressing a meeting at the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the city on Tuesday. — COIMBATORE: Rohit S. Nepal, Political and Economic Officer of the U.S. Consulate, Chennai, has said that the Indo-U.S. relationship is reaching new heights fuelled mainly by the people-to-people relationship. Addressing the members of the Indian Chamber of Commerce and Industry, Coimbatore, at a meeting organised here on Tuesday, he said the two countries share a lot of values and interests. In the last three years, India has sent a large number of students to the U.S. The number of people coming to India from the U.S. to study is also increasing. On the trade and economic front, the people-to-people relationship has bolstered business too. The bilateral trade between the two countries is witnessing about 20 per cent growth annually. The other major areas for cooperation include technology and security, he said.
