Noise pollution

In response to the Public Eye feature on Deepavali, S. Sheshadri of Vijayanagar writes: During Deepavali, one cannot take a walk in the evening as people burst crackers on the street. Staying indoors is equally difficult owing to the ear-splitting noise. Foreigners do not buy Indian carpets because children’s labour is involved in their making. But we buy crackers though we are aware that they are made by young hands.
