Funds no constraint for education: Minister

Staff Reporter

THIRUVANANTHAPURAM: The State will provide all necessary backing to the Centre for Bioinformatics and the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries of the University of Kerala for them to become centres of academic excellence.

The Finance Minister has declared that there would be no dearth of funds for effecting quality improvement in the education sector, Minister for Education M.A. Baby has said.

He was speaking after inaugurating the buildings that would house the Centre for Bioinformatics and the Department of Aquatic Biology and Fisheries at the Karyavattom campus of the university on Tuesday. Though many of the best brains in academia are from India and Kerala, the State’s contributions to higher education have been on the wane for some time now. Efforts led by the government are on to bring about comprehensive changes at all levels of education in Kerala.
