Four Maoists arrested

BHUBANESWAR: The Sambalpur police have arrested four Maoists and seized arms, ammunition and uniforms from them.

The Left wing extremists were arrested from Deopali-Jarang forest near Meghpal on Tuesday, the police said on Wednesday.

Two rifles, eight rounds of live cartridges, nine pairs of uniforms along with several other items were seized from the possession of the extremist youths.

The four – Ganesh Mirdha (29), Nandalal Mirdha, Anil Khes (20), and Dasarath Pradhan (24) – were produced before court and remanded to judicial custody.

According to the police, Ganesh Mirdha Ganesh was the Commander of the Sambalpur-Deogarh-Sundargarh Zonal Committee of Communist Party of India (Maoist).

Ganesh was allegedly involved in a series of Maoist attacks and as many as 22 non-bailable warrants were pending against him in different courts in Sambalpur and Deogarh districts.
