KOZHIKODE: AIMS 2007, the annual information technology (IT) management summit of the Indian Institute of Management, Kozhikode (IIM-K), will be held on its campus, near here, on Saturday and Sunday.

The summit will focus on the pervasiveness of the Internet and its effect on everyday lives of the people. The theme this year is ‘The new frontiers of technology: consumer Internet, wireless and mobile.’

AIMS 2007 is the country’s largest student-driven IT summit and brings together the IT industry, government officials and students for two days of intense discussions and brainstorming, an IIM-K release said here on Wednesday.

Going beyond a traditional summit, AIMS 2007, in association with the Calicut IT Initiative (CITI, a professional citizens’ initiative), is launching ConnectCalicut, a round table discussion where decision makers from major IT companies, the State government and infrastructure developers, including the Aditya Birla Group, will converge. ConnectCalicut will set the stage for high-level discussions on developing Kozhikode as an IT destination. It will be held at Taj Residency here at 7 p.m. on Saturday.

The speakers at AIMS 2007 include Jaspreet Bindra, Country Head of MSN India; Ananth Krishnan, vice-president and chief technology officer of TCS; Lil Mohan, managing director of the WiMax Divison at Intel; Romal Shetty who heads KPMG’s telecom division; and Sandeep Shrivastav, Director of Search at Yahoo! India. The Hindu Business Line is the print media partner.

The summit will be help professionals, corporate bodies and students interested in exposure to the latest trends in consumer Internet, wireless and mobile technologies.
