Rally taken out to mark Diabetes Day

PUDUCHERRY: On the occasion of Diabetes Day on Wednesday, staff and students of Jawaharlal Institute of Postgraduate Medical Education and Research (JIPMER) took out a rally on Goubert Avenue to highlight this year’s theme ‘Diabetes Mellitus in Children and Adolescents.’

According to a JIPMER release, a health orientation programme was conducted on Tuesday for patients of Diabetic Clinic and their attendants. On 18 November, the institute would conduct a CME programme for doctors for the management of diabetes mellitus in Children and adolescents. A free screening camp for diabetes and its complications involving eyes, kidneys and foot was organised at the Mahatma Gandhi Medical College and Research Institute, Pillaiyarkuppam. The college also organised a video show and puppet show on diabetes.

Students of the Sri Venkateshwaraa Medical College Hospital and Research Centre, Ariyur, organised a diabetic walk for students. A release says an exhibition was arranged at the hospital.
