BANGALORE: An armed gang attacked an estate agent and his driver on the Bangalore-Mysore highway in Ramanagara district on Monday night and made away with his car along with a bag containing Rs. 30 lakh and Rs. 7 lakh cheque. Ramanagara Superintendent of Police H.S. Revanna said that the incident took place around 8.30 p.m. near Kolur Cross in Channapatna Rural police station limits. Shaukath, a realtor from Jayanagar here, was returning to the city from H.D. Kote in Mysore district after selling 25 acres of land to Prabhu of Mysore. After the registration of the property at the sub-registrar’s office in H.D. Kote, Shaukath collected the cash and cheque from Prabhu and left for Bangalore. Around 10 people, who were in a sports utility vehicle (SUV), reportedly trailed Shaukath’s car. On nearing Kolur Cross, the occupants of the SUV intercepted the car. They dragged Shaukath and his driver Faizal out of the vehicle and assaulted them. The robbers sped away in Shaukath’s car.
