Representation to several new faces likely in the ministry BJP has convened a legislature party meeting on November 18 BANGALORE: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), which is yet to fill up its quota of 11 ministerial berths, is expected to have a swearing in of its ministerial nominees on November 22, a day after the swearing in of nominees from its coalition partner, the Janata Dal (Secular). According to sources in the BJP, names of most of the ministerial candidates have been finalised, barring two or three. Women legislatorsThis time too, it is unlikely that any women legislators from the BJP would make it to the ministry. The party is likely to provide representation to several new faces in the ministry. This would mean that some of the senior leaders who were Ministers in the Janata Dal (S)-BJP government headed by H.D. Kumaraswamy might be drafted for party work. QuotaThe BJP’s total quota in the 34-member ministry is 16. The party has to fill up 11 ministerial vacancies as five have already been filled up. The list of probable BJP ministers includes C.M. Udasi, Katta Subramanya Naidu, B. Nagaraj Shetty, S.A. Ravindranath, Shivananda Naik (who were Ministers in the earlier government) and Rajendra Verma and Laxman Savadi (new faces). Krishnaiah Shetty and Shankaralinge Gowda are also in the race. Eshwarappa’s chancesThere are still doubts on whether senior party leader K.S. Eshwarappa will be taken into the ministry. The BJP has convened a legislature party meeting on November 18 on the eve of floor test to take stock of the situation and also issue instructions to its MLAs regarding the trust vote. Meanwhile, Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa and other Ministers had a meeting on Wednesday.
