Bangalore: Governor Rameshwar Thakur on Wednesday cautioned youths against recklessness, fanaticism, jealousy and a dogmatic world view and exhorted them to strive to attain higher virtues and intellectual capacity. Presenting the Swami Vivekananda State Youth Awards to 12 persons and four youth organisations on the occasion of the birth anniversary of Pandit Jawarharlal Nehru, the Governor said that lop-sided approach to the problems faced by them had left a large section unemployed in skilled professions. K.V. Jagannath, Joint Director in the Governor’s office, read his speech, as Mr. Thakur could not do it due to throat pain. The youths, who received the awards were: B.C. Vijaya Kumar, Mandya district; Mruthyunjay V. Kulkarni, Gadag district; C.C. Hemalatha, Tumkur district; Shivaiah Swamy Kamathana, Bidar district; C.S. Srikanth, Hassan district; N. Phalguna and Varadaraja P, Udupi district; G. Rajappa, Chamarajanagar; Abha Somesh, Mysore district, and S.N. Jyoti, Koppal District. Manjunath of Chintamani and Sanjay Nayak T.J were given State awards. The Gadag Youth Association, Gadag; K.V.Shankaregowda Memorial Yuvajana Sangha, Kilara, Mandya District; Mitra Balaga, Sullia, and Basaveswara Yuvaka Sangha, K.R. Nagar Taluk representatives received the awards from the Governor.
