NALGONDA: Neredcharla police on Monday arrested a notorious criminal gang led by two brothers, who were involved in three murder cases, on the charge of lifting electric transformers in various places in Nalgonda and Medak districts.
Neredcharla Sub-Inspector T. Subbirami Reddy told reporters that Sk. Nagurvali (42) and his brother Sk. Hussain (38) of Thangadikunta in Guntur district and their accomplices Kampa Sreenivasa Rao and Sk. Sharif of Piduguralla had been arrested and remanded to judicial custody. Police launched a manhunt to nab one of the gang members Janibasha (30).
They were allegedly involved in stealing a dozen transformers in the two districts.
During interrogation, the brothers reportedly revealed that they were involved in murders, dacoity and lifting of lorry and a car since 1997.
“Altogether seven non-bailable arrest warrants are pending at various police stations against the duo,” the officer said. While the siblings were released on bail in 1999 in a theft case, they escaped from police custody in May 2001, Mr. Reddy revealed.
