KARAIKAL: NCC cadets in Karaikal district in the Union Territory of Puducherry took out a rally here on Monday to create awareness among the people about the importance of rainwater harvesting and prevention of waterborne diseases.
The rally was organised by the 2 (P) Independent Company NCC, Karaikal, during the visit of Col. G. Dinakaran, Group Commander of NCC Group Headquarters, Puducherry, who assumed charge recently. Col. K. Purushotham, Officer Commanding of 2 (P) Indep Coy, Karaikal, Lt. R. Rengaiyan and First Officer T. Selvam participated.
Addressing the NCC cadets at the Arignar Anna Government Arts College here, NCC Group Commander, Col. G. Dinakaran advised the cadets to undertake social service and explained the various benefits available to the cadets.
He also stressed the importance of rainwater harvesting and urged people to conserve the precious potable water.
