Surgery camp for polio-affected kids

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: Chief Minister Sheila Dikshit on Wednesday unveiled a statue of Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru and inaugurated a Polio Corrective Surgery and Rehabilitation Programme at Chacha Nehru Bal Chikitsayalaya at Geeta Colony in East Delhi.

Affiliated to Maulana Azad Medical College, the Chikitsalaya is a super speciality paediatric hospital. The corrective surgery camp has been organised in collaboration with Rotary International and WHO and children in the age group of three to 15 years were registered.

The hospital would continue to register patients and they would be covered under the scheme to provide financial assistance to polio-affected children for corrective surgery and fitment of aids.

Ms. Dikshit said the camp would provide rehabilitation to polio-affected children through free-of-cost corrective surgery.
