Long queues of voters were seen outside the polling booths in all the three constituencies amidst the chilly weather in the higher altitudes. The voter turn out picked up in the afternoon only in certain arctic areas otherwise it was proportionate in the relatively

warmer areas. The election is being done in two phases due to early setting of winters in the tribal belt of the State.

The three major parties, Congress, BJP and BSP, are fighting on all the three seats along with three other independents. The polling for the second phase will be held on 19th December. All three seats of the tribal belt were held earlier by the Congress .
