Entertaining: Teachers from Ryan International School performing a dance as part of Children’s Day celebrations. BANGALORE: Commitments were renewed for children’s welfare at the Children’s Day celebrations on Wednesday, organised in schools that are a part of The Hindu’s NIE Programme. Teachers not only entertained students by enacting dramas, presenting dances and songs but gave them some advice. They told them to live by the ideals of independent India’s first Prime Minister Pandit Jawaharlal Nehru. Many activities were conducted in the classes too. At BaldwinsAt Baldwin Girls’ High School, Richmond Road, the day started with a special prayer at the chapel. For a change it was the teachers who were nervous, as students gathered at the Montgomery Hall, tapping their feet and drumming their fingers impatiently. The teachers presented a comedy, “Lux Lazzy Baniyan”, a Kannada skit, “Guru-Shishya”, dances and a fashion show. Principal Indira Williams said that each individual is precious and told the students to put their talents to good use. At Ryan InternationalStudent council members were felicitated as part of Children’s Day celebrations at Ryan International School, Kundalahalli. A variety of entertainment programmes were presented by teachers including dances and songs. The programme began with a prayer song and a Bible reading. It came to an end with an antakshari competition between the teachers and students. Several activities such as biscuit-making, dumb charades, mono-acting were conducted in the classes.
