HYDERABAD: Anguished over the behaviour of Telugu Desam members in persisting with the disruption of Assembly proceedings on Wednesday, Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy adjourned the House for more than two hours stating that he would come back only after the floor leaders meet him in his chambers. The unruly behaviour of the TDP members, who stormed the podium and argued with the Chair, evoked a sharp rebuke from all other opposition parties, only two days after they decided to have floor coordination on major issues. Irked by TDLP deputy leader T. Devender Goud’s remarks, the Speaker cut off the mike and admonished him for ‘misusing the opportunity’. Immediately, the TDP members rushed to the podium, argued with Chair and raised slogans. In spite of the Speaker rising from his chair and repeatedly requesting them with folded hands to resume their seats, the TDP members defied his directive and continued to stall the House. In a rare display of anger, Mr. Reddy chided them for making a “mockery of democracy’ and bluntly told them that the House could not be used for political issues. Terming the TDP members action as “worst behaviour,” he asked, “Is this a tamasha?” Asserting that the House could not be “hijacked” and run with this kind of attitude, he said there was a limit to tolerance. “In what way will you do justice with this kind of behaviour? All your heroics can’t be displayed in this form.” he said. An exasperated Mr. Suresh Reddy asked all floor leaders to observe what was happening and come to his chambers, saying he would come back only then and adjourned the House. WalkoutWhen the House resumed, members of Telugu Desam, TRS, CPI and BJP members staged a walkout accusing the Government of neglecting and suppressing backward classes as also making inadequate allocations for their welfare.
