Maid slips from balcony, dies

An 18-year-old maid Lakshmi died after accidentally slipping from the balcony of a flat on the seventh floor of My Home apartment building in Madhapur on Wednesday.

The victim was reportedly collecting clothes hung on a wire by standing on a stool when she accidentally slipped and fell off the balcony around 5 a.m., Madhapur police station Sub-Inspector J. Ramesh Kumar said. The flat owner Sharat, a businessman and his family members were asleep when the incident occurred.

9-year-old killed

A nine-year-old boy Uday Kumar, who was hit by a tractor while playing before his house at Filmnagar in Banjara Hills three days ago, succumbed to his injuries while undergoing treatment at the Osmania General Hospital on Tuesday night. The victim’s father Nagaiah was a labourer, the police said.

Robbery at gunpoint

Robbers made off with gold jewellery worth nearly Rs. 6 lakh after looting a pawn broker’s shop at gunpoint in Madhapur during daytime on Wednesday.

Police said, three robbers drove in a white car to Ram Dev Pawn Broker and Jeweller’s shop at Kondapur junction around 2.30 p.m. While one stood guard outside, other two youngsters – one wielding a revolver and another a knife- barged into the shop and downed the shutters.

As soon as they entered, the robber duo attacked the shop assistant Gajaraam and gagged him.

The shop owner Laxman was away in Secunderabad on some work. He was forced to open the locker in the rear room at gun point.

The robbers gathered the gold ornaments and sped away in the white car.

The robbers were dark in complexion and wore black coats. They were in their late twenties.

“As the offenders struck when the owner was away. Naturally the possible complicity of any insiders crops up. However, we are yet to get some clues,” the Madhapur police station Inspector S. Jayaram said.
