TDP defends its action in House

Special Correspondent

HYDERABAD: The Telugu Desam stoutly defended its members’ action in the Assembly on Wednesday and felt that Speaker K. R. Suresh Reddy’s abrupt adjournment was not warranted. The refrain was he should have used his powers to take action, if he so desired against the TDP members instead of leaving the chair.

Leader of the Opposition, N. Chandrababu Naidu, said the party legislators had no other option but to protest as the reply from the Government on artisan and backward class issue was not at all satisfactory. It was the Opposition’s right to highlight the grievances of various deprived sections from handloom weavers to artisans and extract proper response from the Government.

At a separate press conference, Mr. Goud too saw nothing wrong saying all he did was to highlight how the Government was neglecting the Backward Classes.
