The Kerala Tourism Development Corporation (KTDC) has become more market friendly and is in an expansion mode. It will soon begin work on the country’s first marina on its own land that abuts on Bolghatty Palace Hotel in Kochi. The corporation has also been doing up its hotels, to attract more guests. Last week saw KTDC’s Tamarind Easy Hotel being opened at Kalady, the third such hotel in the State. Why ‘Easy Hotel?’ KTDC Managing Director K.G. Mohanlal said the tag had been attached as it was easy to book, easy on the purse and within easy reach of airport and highway. The Kalady hotel has 14 air-conditioned double bedrooms and five dormitories, each of which can accommodate four people. The AC rooms have been priced at an introductory offer of Rs.950. The hotel also has a 36-seat restaurant. A mini-conference hall will soon be added to it. John L. Paul
