CHENNAI: The duo from Vidya Mandir School, Mylapore, Jayadev Bhaskaran and Aaslesh Y., won the fifth National Texas Instruments Jack Kilby Science and Technology quiz recently in Bangalore. In a thrilling finish, the duo beat the top teams from Bangalore and Delhi to emerge as the 2007 champions. Over 1,500 teams from 700 schools across the country participated in the quiz. The effort and wit of the winning team was well rewarded when they received prizes worth over Rs. 1 lakh, including a laptop and other products, for winning one of the country’s premiere science quizzes for school students. Speaking on behalf of Texas Instruments (TI), its managing director Bobby Mitra said the quiz had evolved over the last five years and that interest in it had also grown. Mr. Bobby Mitra added that he was delighted that the quiz provided a platform for a future generation of innovators. The science and technology quiz is conducted for students of Standards VIII, IX. and seeks to keep alive the country’s strong tradition of scientific research and analysis.
