AIMS medical centre opened

Laudable initiative: Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran inaugurating the Ayyappa Medical Centre of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences at Pampa on Thursday.

PAMPA: Devaswom Minister G. Sudhakaran inaugurated the Ayyappa Medical Centre of the Amrita Institute of Medical Sciences (AIMS) at Pampa on Thursday.

In his inaugural address, the Minister said the AIMS medical centre would be the main referral hospital at Sabarimala during the Mandalam-Makaravilakku pilgrim season.Lauding the service being rendered by the Mata Amrithanandamayi Math in different parts of the country, Mr. Sudhakaran said the AIMS-sponsored health care service at Sabarimala reflected the social and spiritual commitment of the Math. He said the All-Kerala Chemists and Druggists Association had agreed to supply medicines worth Rs.15 lakh, free-of-cost, to the hospitals at Sabarimala. Association president A.N. Mohanan handed over the first lot of medicines worth Rs.7.5 lakh to the Minister. A 40-member team of medical officers and paramedical staff has been deployed at the medical unit at Pampa.
