Government sanction for bridges

CHENNAI: The Tamil Nadu Government has accorded financial and administrative sanction for building 39 road overbridges/road underbridges replacing level crossings in 13 districts of the State.

The projects will be undertaken by the Highways Department along with the Railways. Highways Secretary K. Allaudin told The Hindu that the Railway Board had granted approval for the projects that would be executed during 2007-08.

He said the projects would help to further the Highways Department’s efforts at easing congestion near the level crossings.
