Meet on global production

BANGALORE: The Institute for Social and Economic Change (ISEC), Bangalore, in association with Indian Council of Social Science Research, New Delhi; International Institute for Labour Studies, Geneva; and Institute for Human Development, New Delhi, is conducting a three-day international workshop on “Global production networks and decent work: Recent experience in India and global trends,” from November 18.
G.K. Karanth, Professor and Head of the Centre for Social Change and Development, told presspersons that the workshop was to take stock of the situation and set the agenda for research and policy in this emerging area so that it led to informed policy debate, useful for government, employers and trade unions. Nearly 75 experts in this area, both from India and abroad, would contribute papers and participating in the three-day conference. The experts from various sectors, trade union representatives, non-governmental organisations and government bodies from different parts of the country were attending the workshop, he said.
