Letters to the Editor
The editorial “The BJP’s southern debut” (Nov. 15) was timely. It is indeed in Chief Minister B.S. Yeddyurappa’s and the BJP’s interest to resolve the pending issues with the JD(S). But much depends on the sagacity of the leaders. The trading of charges between the two parties raises serious doubts about the new government’s stability. J. Dorai Raj, Chennai There is only one way for the BJP to get a strong and lasting foothold in the south. It must rise above its Hindutva agenda. The party, which has been struggling since the 2004 elections to stand on its own, cannot afford to waste this opportunity. The BJP’s future in the south will depend on whether Mr. Yeddyurappa can ensure an efficient and transparent administration. Ved K. Guliani, Bangalore
