NEW DELHI: The Civil Aviation Ministry on Thursday decided to allow airlines to increase their capacity during the coming winter holiday season.

To counter the winter rush, all airlines will be allowed to upgrade their aircraft to any capacity level on their existing frequencies at all airports in the country. This dispensation will be available to the airlines from December 1 to January 31 next.

Additional aircraft

Meanwhile, private domestic carrier GoAir received the second new Airbus A-320 aircraft on Thursday. The carrier plans to operate 561 flights every week under the new winter schedule.
