HARIDWAR: Dhiraj Soni of East Singhbhum district (Jharkhand) set a new meet record in the boys’ under-16 1500m clocking 4:14.85 seconds to win by a distance in the fifth National inter-district athletics championship here on Thursday. Soni bettered the previous meet record of 4:15.12 and was almost two seconds ahead of Vinay Kumar, who finished second in 4:16.82. The results: Boys: U-16: 400m: 1. Manoj Kumar (52.75s), 2. Akshay Chauhan (52.95), 3. M. Bala Gagadhavan (53.39). 1500m: 1. Dhiraj Soni (4:14.85 — NMR; old: 4:15.12), 2. Vinay Kumar (4:16.82), 3. Jaysing Samad (4:18.76). 100m hurdles: 1. Gourabhani (15.01), 2. Ranjit Kumar (15.20), 3. Abhishek Upadhaya (15.34). High jump: 1. Sikender (1.81m), 2. Chirag Patel (1.81), 3. Surender (1.81). Discus: 1. Kultej Singh (42.96m), 2.
