Chittoor: The cases of atrocities on Dalits were on high in the district compared to 11 districts in the state toured by the A.P. State SC ST Commission so far indicates the lethargic attitude of the concerned officers in dealing with these problems said Commission Dr. Nagaraj expressing his displeasure at a meeting held here on Thursday to review the activities implemented for the benefit of the SC ST communities. He said that the commission has received 600 petitions from the SC ST Communities during their 5 day tour in the district which mostly relates to atrocities and occupation of lands sanctioned to them by others. Such things were happening due to the failure of the police and revenue officers to take prompt action. The condition in the thandas in the district was disappointing and was brought to the notice of the District Collector S.S. Rawath who appointed a special officer to attend to the development in these areas. The officers were asked to take action to solve all the problems. Commission members A. Srinivasulu and Prathap Kumar and Joint Collector Rajendra Prasad among others participated.
