Cause of concern: ABVP activists protesting against sex education proposed in schools in Kurnool on Thursday.

KURNOOL: The supporters of ABVP boycotted classes in schools and demonstrated at the Collectorate here on Thursday to protest against introduction of sex education at school level. The ABVP activists burnt the books on sex education and shouted slogans.

ABVP leaders Nelson Raju and others said the State and Central Government under the influence of western agencies were eager to introduce sex education in the name of controlling HIV infection.

They said before achieving unanimity among educationists, the government introduced sex education in a big way in schools causing embarrassment to both students and teachers.

They said the ABVP was against “poisoning the minds” of the young through such experiments. The government should study the impact of such education in the west.
