In search of four-year-old boy

Idbul kidnapped by an acquaintance

Kidnapper demands ransom

CUTTACK: A team of the city police on Thursday left for West Bengal in search of a kidnapped four-year-old boy.

Idbul alias Guddu, the only son of Latifur Rehman of Shelter Square here, was kidnapped allegedly by Sk. Nasser, an acquaintance of the family, on Tuesday night.

“Nasser reportedly made a telephone call to Rehman on Wednesday morning from Khargpur in West Bengal informing that he kidnapped Guddu and demanded a ransom to release him.

On the basis of Rehman’s complaint and having gathered prima facie evidences that the kidnapper is in Kharagpur, a team led by investigating officer K.C. Biswal left for Kharagpur on Thursday afternoon,” said Cuttack SP Soumendra Kumar Priyadarshi.

Differences

According to reports, Naseer was working with Rehman in his tailor shop. Although both were pulling on well, differences cropped up between them a few days ago. Since then Rehman had asked Nasser to stay away from his shop and family.

But on Tuesday evening, when Rehman was not at home, Nasser came to his house and took his eight-year-old daughter Fazia and Guddu to the nearby market for giving them chocolates.

Later, Fazia returned home alone informing her mother that Guddu had gone with Nasser to another market to have some snacks.

But when Guddu did not return till late in the evening and there was no trace of Nasser, Rehman smelt a rat and lodged a complaint with the Lalbagh police.

Rehman’s apprehensions turned correct when Nasser rang him up on his cell phone from Kharagpur on Wednesday, the police said.
