Congress leaders held

LUCKNOW: All-India Congress Committee General Secretary, who is in charge of Uttar Pradesh affairs, Digvijay Singh and Pradesh Congress Committee president Rita Bahuguna-Joshi were among hundreds of Congressmen arrested in Shikohabad in Firozabad district on Thursday.
They were arrested at the Shikohabad police station where they had gone to force the police to lodge an FIR against a Bahujan Samaj Party functionary and Chairman of Uttar Pradesh Khadi and Gramodyog Board for the alleged derogatory references to Mahatma Gandhi at a function on November 3.
Earlier the Congressmen staged a day-long dharna in Shikohabad.
Reports reaching the UPCC headquarters here said the arrests were made in the evening and the leaders and party workers had not been released.
Among the leaders arrested were the former UPCC president, Jagdambika Pal, acting CLP leader Pramod Tiwari, Manvendra Singh, MP, MLAs Pradeep Mathur, Vivek Bansal, Naseeb Pathan, MLC, and the party unit chiefs and workers of Agra Division.
