KURNOOL: The Kurnool FM station has bagged the prestigious “Public Service Broadcasting Award” for airing a programme on the medicinal values of tamarind in treating poisoning of cattle. Programme Head of AIR station K. Vijaya told newsmen here on Thursday that after observing the death of cattle due to consumption of poisonous leaves, the unit produced a docu-drama to educate public about the medicinal values of tamarind. The juice of tamarind fruit could be used as antidote in treating poisoning cases in cattle.
The 22-minute programme also tried to educate farmers in the use of “atropin sulphate” as antidote.
