Rs. 50 more bonus for paddy
Special Correspondent
NEW DELHI: Bowing to pressure from the southern States, the Centre on Thursday announced an additional bonus of Rs.50 a quintal for paddy for the current procurement season.
This will be in addition to the Rs.50 a quintal bonus already announced for paddy for the 2007-08 kharif marketing season.
“The incentive bonus on paddy, in addition to the minimum support price for the current procurement season, will encourage farmers to grow more paddy and also contribute more for the central pool,” said Minister for Information and Broadcasting Priyaranjan Dasmunsi while announcing the decision taken by the Cabinet Committee on Economic Affairs.
