Three more IPS officers shifted
Special Correspondent
GANDHINAGAR: Three more Gujarat cadre Indian Police Service officers have been transferred by the Election Commission (EC) in the poll-bound State.
State Election Commission sources confirmed that the EC had sought names for replacements to Ahmedabad Joint Police Commissioner P. K. Jha, Vadodara Police Commissioner P. C. Thakur and Anand Superintendent of Police D. S. Bhatt. The panel of names was to be sent by Friday evening.
The EC earlier ordered the transfer of eight government officials. They included Director-General of Police P.C. Pandey, who has since been replaced by K.R. Kaushik, and Ahmedabad Police Commissioner J. Mahapatra, now replaced by S.K. Saikia.
The orders for transfer of the three IPS officers were issued along with the notification for the first phase of polling in 87 constituencies on December 11.
On Thursday, only one nomination was filed by an independent for the Visavadar seat in Junagadh district.
