CHENNAI: Karun Chandhok completed his first test session in a Formula One car on the outskirts of Barcelona on Tuesday. According to a press release, the Indian driver from Chennai was given the opportunity to test alongside Grand Prix star David Coulthard by the Red Bull Racing team during a three-day session at the Catalunya circuit. Exciting time“I had an exciting time and I am pleased that the team was satisfied with the technical feedback I provided them,” Chandhok said. “For me it was a dream come true to be out on the track with the likes of Michael Schumacher (making a comeback from retirement to test for Ferrari) and David Coulthard. David has been very open and a great help,” he said. From GP2 to F-1 is quite a step up in terms of performance and package on offer, but Chandhok was up to it. “To be honest, the power of the engine and the brakes were not so different. For me the big difference came from the aerodynamics, as the down force and the high speed grip is just astounding,” Chandhok said. As per the classification, Chandhok finished 18th (1:24.896) in the first session and 11th in Wednesday’s second session. He covered the circuit in 1:23.255 in the second session. Schumacher was first again with a time of 1:21.246, while Coulthard finished seventh (1:22.555). Chandhok finished ahead of regular F-1 drivers like Jenson Button, Jarno Trulli and Robert Kubica on Wednesday.
