Woman deported

KOCHI: A woman was deported back from Dubai to the Cochin International Airport on Thursday after the validity period inscribed on her visa in English varied with its Arabic translation. Anees Thomas, 48, hailing from Elanjy in Ernakulam district, has been working in Riyadh as a nurse. She recently visited home and returned on Wednesday via Dubai on an Emirates flight. The Dubai airport authorities deported her despite her documents being genuine, emigration sources at the Kochi airport said. The emigration officials offloaded five persons – two bound for Sharjah and one each for Abu Dhabi, Bahrain and Muscat — for want of proper travel documents. — Staff Reporter
