1,800 stamped envelopes distributed to the school children on Children’s Day NEW DELHI: To felicitate and honour Sardar Patel Vidyalaya here in its Golden Jubilee Year, the Delhi Circle of India Post has released a special postal cover dedicated to it on the occasion of Children’s Day. The cover includes the school logo stamped by the Indian Postal Department and a collage of multi-coloured “rangoli” designs made by its students. School Principal Anuradha Joshi said: “We were aware that the Indian Postal Department occasionally comes out with limited editions of special postal covers, so we explored the idea and were happy when it materialised.” “The rangoli pattern design was given by us as it is rooted in our school tradition. Our children experimented with innovative designs and materials, blending Indian tradition and modernity,” she added. According to the Principal, over 300 students took part in the rangoli festival held in the school premises to select the design for the stamp cover. In exploring this modern concept of floor decoration through traditional methods, the children applied different themes and materials including broken bangles, marbles, glass, ice-cream sticks and match-sticks. As a token of the golden jubilee celebrations, the school distributed the limited edition of 1,800 stamped envelopes to the school children on Children’s Day.
