Woman killed in accident

Staff Reporter

NEW DELHI: A Delhi Police mini-truck rammed into a cycle-rickshaw at Vikaspuri here on Wednesday, killing a 40-year-old woman tea-stall owner and injuring her teenaged nephew.

Driver Deshraj, who was allegedly drunk, was caught by angry passers-by and beaten up. He was later arrested by the police and charged with causing death due to rash and negligent driving.

The accident took place around 8-30 p.m. when Akashi Devi and Govind were returning home in a cycle-rickshaw after closing their tea-stall. The rashly driven mini-truck coming from the opposite direction rammed into the rickshaw and seriously injured the woman and the boy.
