BHUBANESWAR: The government wants the Orissa Lalit Kala Akademi to work towards promotion of art education in remote regions of the State. This was hinted at the first annual convocation of the Sunday Art Schools of the State. The akademi, the apex body for visual art and an autonomous organisation of the government, extended affiliation to 89 Sunday Art Schools throughout the State. The schools were being managed by voluntary cultural bodies. In his address, Finance Minister P.C. Ghadei urged the akademi to expand its art activities in the KBK Region while Culture Minister S.N. Patro emphasised the need for reaching out to aspiring artists at the grassroots level.
